Since 1845, Alpha Sigma Phi has thrived as the nation’s 10th oldest Fraternity. Now, our alumni have the unique opportunity to support scholarships and the educational initiatives of Alpha Sigma Phi by becoming a member the 1845 Club. Brothers that join 1845 Club will receive hand-crafted Napa Valley wines made exclusively for the members of the Old Gal.

The Tomb - 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon - Napa Valley

Fraternity members at Yale did not live in houses, but they met in “tombs”, which were large windowless lodges that had an air of mystery and secrecy surrounding them.

On March 27, 1907, members of a re-founding class of the Alpha Chapter traveled to Marietta College to be initiated. Many of the old Alpha members returned to Yale upon hearing the news of the refounding and helped acquire the fraternity’s first piece of real estate, the “Tomb”, a windowless two-story building. No non-member was allowed entrance. No member could speak of the interior of the building and was even expected to remain silent while passing by the exterior of the building.

Our flagship Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic representation of the appellation’s preeminent varietal. Notes of of black cherry, blackberry and plum are complemented by hits of toasted oak, dried currant and baking spice. Fine-grained tannins and ample brightness on the palate give way to a polished mouthfeel and exceptionally long finish.
