Founders Red – Stephen Ormsby Rhea
2020 Red Wine – Napa Valley
Stephen Ormsby Rhea was born in 1825 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Ormsby entered St. Paul’s College on Long Island in 1842 where he met another gentleman who he seemed to have much in common with, Louis Manigault. Ormsby did not decide to attend Yale College until after Manigault convinced him to come.
Rhea remained at Yale only six months after the founding of Alpha Sigma Phi but stayed in New Haven a few months taking instruction from tutors. During breaks from studying, he devoted his free time to the cultivation of the Fraternity. Rhea entered Omega Chapter in 1873 and was buried in a family plot near Clinton, Louisiana. There is no known photograph of Stephen Ormsby Rhea.
We introduce you to Founders Red – Stephen Ormsby Rhea. Our proprietary red blend always exhibits the craft of blending, where all the parts complement the round character of the final wine. Deep dark saturated color, with spicy plum and black cherry, tobacco, cinnamon, and floral and camphor hints on the nose while on the palate it is voluptuous, dark fruited, juicy, round and long lasting with currant, dark chocolate, roasted beets and a persistent finish in this full-bodied wine.

Mr. Alpha Sig
2021 Pinot Noir – Russian River Valley
Ralph F. Burns was born on May 12, 1912. He enrolled at Ohio Wesleyan University in 1931 and became the 268th initiate into the Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi on February 21, 1932.
In his earliest days as an Alpha Sig, he served the Chapter as President and Recruitment Director. Burns began the duties of Executive Secretary in 1936 and retired in 1976. He led the fraternity through three wars, the Great Depression and three mergers and acquisitions.
Because of his fervor toward the undergraduate leaders of the Fraternity throughout his career and post-retirement, there wasn’t an Alpha Sig who didn’t know who Ralph Burns was and thus became known as “Mr. Alpha Sig”.
We introduce you to Mr. Alpha Sig. From the Russian River Valley AVA of Sonoma County, this beautiful wine is influenced mostly by the fog of the AVA and is very aromatic, with a velvet mouthfeel, and has a fruit character that is ripe and intense.
